The hydrofoil arrives at the main harbour Mandraki enabling you to walk around the city and admire the Castle of the Knights, the walls of which separate the Old Town from the new. Old fashioned streets, shops and taverns which offer delightful Greek cuisine.
It is also worth visiting the street of the Knights, along which are situated the quarters of various nationalities that used to form the order of the Knights of St. John.

Nissyros is famous for its extinct volcano Polyvotis, the crater of which occupies a major part of the island.You will see the bubbling mud and steaming springs. For sure you are going to enjoy the serene atmosphere of the island and the view of the small houses and roads that are either white or brightly colored. You can climb up to the small monastery which is located high upon a rock and with a fantastic view of the sea and town of Nisyros There is a frequent bus service from the port directly to the volcano.

Look for the Italianate architecture and pastel washed houses, the silver-domed cathedral and the Monastery of St Savvas, perched on a hilltop overlooking the town. There are three museums devoted to sponge diving and folklore and a chance to see how sponges are processed
